Frequently Asked Questions

Empire is a sports-entertainment platform where users make predictions on sporting events for fun and real prizes. Players make predictions, while Backers can back the other side and win prizes when player predictions miss.
A Backer is an eligible user who has unlocked Backer Mode by meeting the required play threshold. In Backer Mode, Backers can deploy Empire Coins or Empire Cash, which Empire automatically allocates across multiple Player predictions. Backers may win prizes when allocated Player predictions miss.
Empire manages the allocation of player predictions to Backers and ensures eligible Players receive prizes on winning predictions. Empire does not choose which predictions are allocated to which Backers.
Backer prizes are awarded net of an Empire Odds Adjustment - 3% of winnings on straight predictions and 8% on parlay predictions. For example, if a Backer is allocated a Player straight prediction where the Player risks 100 Empire Coins to win 100 Empire Coins (at +100 odds), and the Player loses, the Backer will be awarded 97 Empire Coins.
Predictions are allocated in the order they are received and distributed across active Backers based on their selected sports and deployment order. Empire does not manually choose which predictions are allocated to which Backers, and Backers cannot select specific predictions. Predictions will be made known to Backers immediately after allocation and prior to settlement of the prediction.
